Dear Parents

As I am sure you are aware, the government announced on Wednesday 18th March that all schools and childcare settings in England must close on the 20th March, except for the children of  key workers.

However, if you are a key worker and can safely look after your child at home, please do so.

In consultation with our directors we confirm the school’s closure, in line with government policy and St Joseph’s will close today at 15.15, Friday 20th March.

We realise that this will cause a lot of disruption for parents and for the children. School staff will be working behind the scenes to make sure that we are ready as and when the return to school is announced. Many of our staff, like you, are parents with all the worry and anxiety that that can bring.

All year groups have put work for children on the parental portal on St Joseph’s website: School Work set by Year Group

If you have any particular issues with the work, then please see the class teacher today (Friday).

You will also receive a covering letter from each year group, explaining the work provided by class teachers. The most important thing that you can encourage to do is read.

Please do not feel pressured to make your child complete all of the work but it would be very beneficial if they could do some. New work will be added if and when it is needed. Please check parentmail regularly for any updates and messages.

We will also be putting messages on the entry page of our website. If you need to contact us then please do so using the following email address.

We thank you for your support and understanding during these unprecedented times. We especially would like to thank those parents who work in the NHS for all their hard work. We will be thinking of you especially over the coming weeks.

Please try to stay safe and pay particular attention to elderly relatives and neighbours over the coming weeks. If you have any concerns please contact us at the above email address.
Remember – WE ARE ST JOSEPH’S.

With best wishes

Mrs McNeill and Mr James
