Activity 4
4. We're going to draw a feeling graph of how you feel in your life right now, or it could be in one place, say in school. Draw two axes on a piece of paper. Write the main emotions your child experiences along the bottom axis (ensure you have discussed this beforehand). Explain that the verticle axis is for the amount of emotion you feel - from nothing to completely full/swamped with it.
To make the graph mark lines for the amount of each emotion listed on the bottom line. Demonstrate with an example. Offer them different colours for different emotion lines. After your child has made their lines, ask them to talk about each one - what brings about such a lot of that one?; when does that happen most?; how much would you like there to be?; how might it reduce or grow to that size?; is there anywhere or anytime when there isn't so much of that emotion there, what's different? Then identify how to bring about key changes wished for.
