Special Educational Needs
A New Code of Practice for Special Education Needs came into effect from 1st September 2014 and later updated January 2015. This represents a significant difference from the previous code and proposes a more localised provision across the agencies that might be involved.
The main changes are that national categories such as School Action and School Action+ no longer exist. Each individual School must have a graded system of support to meet the needs of individual pupils. Please refer to the SEND Information Report below.
St. Joseph’s has a very good Intervention Department. (Special Needs) Pupils who are on our Intervention Register make at least similar progress as all other pupils in the school. This is headed up by our Special Education Needs Coordinator Caroline Smith.
