Activity 5
5. Let's draw a flow diagram about what keeps happening before you lose your cool. Think about the last time you lost it... what happened just before that, and before that, and before that etc. Fill in who else was there, what they said and did, what was happening around and what your child felt like emotionally and physically at each point. Might be easier to start first thing that morning and build up towards the blow up. Explore at what point things started to get beyond control. Where does something different have a chance of changing the outcome? What different thought can you think that will help you avoid getting angry - let's write them down. How will you remember to say them to yourself when you're getting worked up? Build a detailed picture of when and where your child feels relaxed and in control. Draw or make it - together.
