Activity 6
6. Draw a picture that is you when you're feeling wound up (or whatever negative emotion your child is experiencing) in school. The adult draws large arrows (big enough to write in) to represent the number of things that are coming in at your child that make those feelings be there. Ask how many and what colour to do them. Fill in the arrows with written details about what those things are as your child tells you what to put in each one. Write down their words exactly. Identify what feelings are related to each arrow. Write these at the tip, Work out if any of the arrows can be tackled in a new way to reduce the number of feelings being set up. Or ask your child how they cope with all the feelings noted at the moment, and identify which ones they might need further coping strategies for.
